Cab Fares from Carmel to Downtown

We will be staying in Carmel over Thanksgiving. We are thinking about not renting a car (wed-sat)as we will have plenty of family to drive us to and from family activities. However, we are anticipating not wanting to rely on them for everything and, in fact, may want to explore downtown on our own.

Any idea of the average cab fare from Carmel (where our hotel is) to the downtown area. Or, is there another place thats better to go to have some nice drinks and atmosphere. I don%26#39;t know the area well, so I%26#39;m just assuming the downtown area. All suggestions would be appreciated. Again, cab fare to other places as well. Thanks in advance!

Paying for a cab ride to and from downtown might run anywhere around $100. So it would be a much better idea to rent a car and much cheaper. Just some heads up information. Where are you staying in Carmel? Downtown is straight south on US 31 or also known as Meridian. It takes roughly 1/2 hour.

No kidding??? Holy cow! I didn%26#39;t expect that. We are staying at the doubletree.

We will probably end up renting a car, then. Is there another cool area in Indianapolis, besides downtown, that would have nice and/or trendy bars and restaurants? How far is this from Carmel? If not, what area in downtown should we look for?

There are a few other areas. Clay Center shopping area is north on US 31 roughly 4 or 5 miles from the Doubletree. Also Keystone at the Crossing at 86th street and Keystone Ave. has great restaurants and shopping. The downtown area is very compact once you park your car you can walk anywhere. The Circle Centre Mall is downtown. Also lots of great restaurants. Check out indy.com for more information.

Sorry that is indy.org

Thank you! As the dates get closer, and I do more research, I will probably have more questions. Thanks again for your replies

I would rent a car. I always like to go and come as I please and not depend on others. Do check out downtown Indy if only for the Christmas lights. On the Friday after Thanksgiving is the annual ';Worlds Largest Christmas Tree'; lighting. That is The Soldiers and Sailors Monument (The Circle) which has lights strung to the top. Friday night downtown will be jammed for that and usually there is a Pacer game that night. Probably 50 to 60 thousand people will be there so saturday night would be a better option. Parking downtown is free at the meters after 6;00 p.m. and on weekends and holidays. If it%26#39;s not to cold it%26#39;s fun just to walk around downtown. be sure to look for the cherub taht sits on the clock of the old Block%26#39;s (now Norstorm%26#39;s?) at the souhwest corner of Washington and Meridan street
