JUst Back From Moto GP

Got back home yesterday from a great weekend in Indy despite the weather. It was dry and sunny all day Sat. so we got to see the dirt track race at the fairgrounds too. The stands at the fairgrounds were packed. The crowd was an international one too. The people behind us were Japanese or atleast asian. Didn%26#39;t speak english so I knew they weren%26#39;t locals LOL. They introduced several dirt track ledgends that night including ';King Kenny'; Roberts.

Just want to correct an announcement made that night that the young lady racing Sat. was the first woman to make the final at a national dirt track. This is not true. The first woman was Dianne Cox from Oregon back in the late %26#39;70%26#39;s.

My hat%26#39;s off to the crew at the Speedway. They dried the track in about 40 minutes to allow the GP to run. The event workers/vendor people were all doing a great job. The police had traffic condrol down to a T. You%26#39;d think they had done this before! LOL

The only negative for the weekend was that the promoter had no idea how much money motorcycle people spend. They were out, completely out of event tee shirts by Sat. PM.

Overall I think everone there had a good time.

JUst Back From Moto GP

Bassman,

Glad you had a great experience in Indianapolis. Hope this becomes an annual event as it sounded like a great time for all concerned. Watching some races on road courses on TV, can imagine it is really wild when run on dirt at the Fairgrounds!

JUst Back From Moto GP

Although I%26#39;m in Seattle now, my friends and relatives back home (many having attended the Moto GP) said it was a great event - similar in terms of crowd to the USGP. And business owners in Indy were ecstatic, saying this was a GREAT crowd to have in town.

I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;ll be better prepared next year to handle the level of commerce you all bring.

Great positive feedback. Yes, I%26#39;m sure this was a learning year for the Speedway. The city loves hosting the races at the track. Too bad some people Bernie Ecklestein could not apprreciate a little Hoosier or American hospitality. That pompus axx. Glad you had a good weekend. Hope you come back next year.

I agree it was a great event, and I was really impresssed. I have been to mid ohio several times but this was my first trip to Indy for any race.

The motoGP set up is by far my favorite, and we will be back next year.

So glad we had one dry day to enjoy, and can only imagine this event if its dry. I hope there is more attendance. The passion for the fans that were there was infectous.

Great time was had!

DaveInIndy now in Seattle??? Guess it won%26#39;t be long til all of us back in Indy start getting great reviews from the Great Pacific Northwest!! Hope things going good out there. Don%26#39;t become a Seahawk fan, we%26#39;ll keep you posted on the new things in town. In case you haven%26#39;t heard the operating cost of the New Lucas Oil Stadium are spiraling upwards. The sound at the first concert did not get the best reviews. And believe it or not, no Pacers have been arrested lately.
