not sure of any ';budget'; options downtown. You might try The Brickyard Crossing at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Or The Red Roof Inn or Motel 6 on the westside. It is easy to catch the bus to downtown and there are plenty of places to eat around there. Around the Hostel there is nothing close and probably not the best area to walk around at night. When are you coming to Indy? I%26#39;m sure I can arrange some free transportation to and from downtown

Just did hotwire, %26amp; got downtown area 3.5 star hotel for $55.00 plus taxes. Great deal. We got the Sheraton. Right in downtown area, walk to all restaurants and dinning and slippery noodle for dancing.

Good luck, we do this periodically, just for an overnite for myself and the hubby. Theres so much to do in indy, just walking to circle monument and going to the museum underneath, its a great thing to do. We love Indy, Plus, theres another monument within walking distance and that one also has a museum underneath.

the Hostel area is in a bad area, or just desolate? Perhaps in Dec or Jan if I can get the days off, etc free transportation would help Thank you so much.

Since you%26#39;ll be coming in the middle of winter, it does get dark very early so keep that in mind when you consider the bike paths and walking through various neighborhoods.
