Indy nightlife for singles...suggestions?

I%26#39;m going to be in town for a long weekend and thought I might hang out downtown. Thanks for your help!

Indy nightlife for singles...suggestions?

No one replied to your post and I feel kinda sorry for you! So here I am to assist. Downtown has tons of things to do. Plenty of bars, restaurants, shopping, and sporting events. You don%26#39;t say where exactly downtown you%26#39;re staying but I%26#39;ll assume it%26#39;s around the mall since there are quite a few hotels in the area. You shouldn%26#39;t have any trouble finding anything to do around the mall. Conseco Fieldhouse (Pacers home) is just a block from the mall and there are several more bars/restaurants around it as well. Downtown Indy is VERY walkable so you won%26#39;t need your car as long as you stay in that area. Massachusetts Ave (known locally as Mass Ave) also has quite a few bars/restaurants/art galleries/theatres, etc.. It%26#39;s also downtown, but away from the other places I mentioned.

You%26#39;ll need a car to get over there.

have fun!

Browse through the tripadvisor sight and also check out Indy.org for some more information. Lots of bars and restaurants downtown. What are you interested in?

This forum has been so quiet recently that I haven%26#39;t been checking it much. I hope that your long weekend wasn%26#39;t last weekend.

The others gave you good information. Here%26#39;s the direct link to the nightlife section of Indy.org.

indy.org/indianapolis/…

That should give you plenty of options!

I hope you have a wonderful time in Indianapolis!

Hey, thanks gang. Yeah, it did get a little sleepy over here, but I just checked and saw your answers. No worries...I%26#39;m not heading over until next month. I%26#39;ve actually been downtown before a couple years ago but I didn%26#39;t know if there were new hot spots, so to speak. I%26#39;m actually staying with friends northeast of the city but I know we%26#39;ll be hitting town on Friday and/or Sat. nite. I think I went to a restaurant/bar that had the look and sound of an old %26#39;50s sock-hop. Called Lois %26amp; something....

But like you said, plenty of bars in the area...we%26#39;ll probably just do the circuit!

Also might check out www.nuvo.net - it%26#39;s the local alternative paper%26#39;s website. You should be able to find some reviews, etc of downtown stuff.

Also suggest you pick up a copy ASAP when you get to Indy, should have ads etc as to who%26#39;s playing at the various clubs, bars, etc.

(No, I%26#39;m not affiliated with them at all, I%26#39;ve just always found the weeklies as a way to learn about a town %26amp; stuff to do.)

Hope this is helpful

The ';50%26#39;s'; bar your thinking of is probably Ike and Jonesy%26#39;s. When the downtown area was revamped back in the 80%26#39;s, ';Ike%26#39;s'; was one of the original%26#39;s to loacte there and get the downtown out of it%26#39;s doldrums. Nothink fancy about it, but, it continues to hang in there and still is fun.

Yeah, that was it...Ike and Jonesys. If I recall there were a few places right around there. OK, cool. Just wanted to make sure I wasn%26#39;t missing out on a new hot spot or something over the last two years or so. Thanks for your help, gang.

Check out Nicky Blaine%26#39;s, Barcelona (tapas restaurant, great bar), happy hour at McCormick and Schmick%26#39;s for the best bargain dinner you%26#39;ll ever have. And if you want a funky little dive bar, the Living Room Lounge downtown.
