3 day getaway to unwind

My wife and I are looking for a nice city for a 3 day getaway. We are from STL and wife is teacher. We will be coming to town over spring break-March 15-20. From reading posts, it seems there is plenty of nightlife in downtown area. What about some daytime activities? Or some ideas for evening beyond the bars.

We are in our 30%26#39;s, married 3 years. We enjoy museums...for a few hours, not all day! We very much appreciate live theatre. I enjoy having a few drinks. My wife, however, enjoys a bar if they have live music, but not just to ';party';...she may have 1 drink. Slippery Noodle sounds like fun. We both enjoy sports, but she does not like basketball(unfortunate since Big 10 tourny is in town during that time !). Is there still a minor league hockey team? We have season tix to our STL Blues and would enjoy most any hockey.

Would appreciate any suggestions,

Also, with Big 10 tourny in town March13-16, will rooms be hard to get?

Thanks,

Bluesguy

Rooms could be a problem, but if you book soon you should be ok.

Possible daytime activities can be found by going to the link I%26#39;m posting below. In it you can find more links that will give you more than enough things to keep you busy during your stay. Please post again if you have more questions about Indianapolis, restaurants, hotels, etc.

Here%26#39;s a website for hockey.

The Jazz Kitchen sounds like a nice place for you guys. http://www.thejazzkitchen.com/

For some reason I%26#39;m blanking right now on theater information, but when I think of it, I%26#39;ll post it.

Since you like museums for at least part of the day, White River State Park is a great place to go. There are several nice museums and the zoo right there, and if the weather is nice you can walk around the canal. You can also rent surrey bikes and enjoy the outdoor sculptures. www.in.gov/whiteriver

The Indianapolis Art Museum is also definitely worth the trip. On the same property is a beautiful new museum with nice gardens, the Lilly Mansion and Puck%26#39;s restaurant. http://www.imamuseum.org/

There are plenty of other things as well. Another nice website to check out is www.indy.org. (You could also search for theater information on there.)

Have a wonderful visit!

Here are some links to a small area near downtown in Indianapolis that%26#39;s become quite popular the last few years, I think you%26#39;d enjoy a visit there.

Thanks Gabby and Lily !

Good suggestions and great links!!!

Indy has lots to offer.... thinking of maybe 2 days in Indy and 2 days in Louisville....thoughts?

Again thanks,

Bluesguy

Think I%26#39;d do 2 1/2 and 1 and 1/2 for Louisville, either that or save Louisville for later. Louisville is a nice place though, however it%26#39;s also smaller, could do some side trips from there that are good.

You%26#39;re welcome Bluesguy!

I agree with Gabbygambler about Louisville. You might enjoy each city more if you focus on one at a time.
