Things for children to do

Hi I am traveling to Indianapolis Jan. 29th for 3 days with my two kids ages 10 %26amp; 6. We are staying downtown at the Embassy Suites that is connected to the City Center Mall. We plan to do the mall and catch a movie, and for sure the Children%26#39;s Museum. That still leaves us a day and a half with no other plans. I think the zoo will be to cold to enjoy. What else in the city is there for kids to enjoy? Do they have Broadway shows in the city or Disney plays? I need a few more ideas for we only have 3 more days till we are Indy bound. By the way the children are girls so the Nascar thing holds no interest to them. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your time,

Tracey

You might want to consider the zoo. They have a desert building %26amp; the rain forest/dolphin pavilion is very cool. The Imax theater %26amp; State Museum would be good too %26amp; close to the zoo. Have fun.

Thank you for the quick reply. I thought about the zoo but it is going to be quite cold. Are there alot of inside exhibits at the zoo?

Thanks again,

Tracey

The zoo has an exhibit about the tropical rain forests that is all inside with tree frogs %26amp; snakes %26amp; a simulated mangrove forest %26amp; a new dolphin viewing area which I believe is under the aquarium tank. You walk through a tube or something %26amp; the dolphins swim around you. There are also indoor dolphin shows. I would look up their website for more info, especially about show times for the dolphins. The polar bears have an inside underwater viewing area as well as the penguins. The desert building is my favorite. All the animals are in open pits (no fences or screens) %26amp; lizards %26amp; tortoises %26amp; hummingbirds are everywhere in the building with it%26#39;s glass dome roof. It%26#39;s just like being in sunny Arizona. Admission price might include going to the greenhouse across the parking lot at White River Gardens. It%26#39;s full of orchids %26amp; quite beautiful, but would probably not take much time to see with kids. But I would go if the price is included with the zoo visit. I think you could easily spend half a day at the zoo %26amp; still be inside, except for walking between buildings.

There used to be a game room on the upper level of Circle Center Mall, but I don%26#39;t know if it%26#39;s still there. Beef %26amp; Boards Dinner theater has shows, but I%26#39;m not sure there%26#39;s anything there for kids at this time. Also it is pretty far from downtown.

the Indiana state museum would be a good bet. They have plenty to do and see. also there is the IMAX connected to it which might be interesting. The monument has a nice museum underneath it about civil war era. The mall does have a movie theater on the top level. Check out IRT for broadway plays. Hope this helps.

I guess you leave today. I wished I%26#39;d seen this before. I hope you have a good drive! It%26#39;s windy!

Here%26#39;s a link to dance companies. I%26#39;ll try to see if any are peforming in the next couple of days.

Also, I know there%26#39;s a Libby Liu%26#39;s (dress up thing) at at least one of the malls.
