Finally have tickets to ND game versus Purdue-HELP

Coming for the weekend of Sept. 26th to the 28th.

Have been checking hotels. Some are booked and some are just outrageously priced. I understand that is what happens when ND plays. We are thinking of staying in Valparaiso. So, anyone know how long the drive would be from there and where to park? We are coming from KY.

Thanks so much.

You would be closer to South Bend if you stay in Laporte Indiana. Valparaiso is about 24 miles west of Laporte. Laporte is closer to South Bend and the 80/90 toll road. Hotels in the Laporte area are:

Best Value Inn %26amp; Suites (219) 362-4585

The Blue Heron Inn (219) 362-5077

Hampton Inn (219) 362 - 6100

Super 8 motel (219) 325-3808

there is also a Holiday Inn Express (don%26#39;t know the phone number)

Arbor Hill Inn %26amp; Guest house (219) 362-9200

all of the above hotels are close to the 80/90 toll road to South Bend.

Hope this helps

Thanks for all the hotel suggestions. I will check out that area.

Just wondering if parking is a problem at the stadium?

If you are coming from the toll-road there are sign boards directing you to the general parking area. If you are coming up US31 it becomes SR933 just south of South Bend turn East(right) on Cleveland Road. At first traffic light (Juniper Road) turn right again and you will run right into general parking. General admission parking opens at 8am.

Thanks so much for the parking directions.

Exactly what we needed.

Still researching hotels. Might come up 31 and was thinking of Plymouth???

Thanks so much for everyone%26#39;s response.

Finally found a hotel in Goshen. I had heard it was hard to find hotels in the area when ND played at home. But, had no idea it was that crazy.

If you are still looking, look north of South Bend in Michigan. There are some nice little towns in that part of Michigan. You maybe could even stay over on the lake and drive in for the game.

any idea what the towns are in michigan to stay on the lake?

Here is an article from this morning%26#39;s Chicago Tribune that talks about all the towns and activities in that pocket of Michigan

chicagotribune.com/travel/…

Look at New Buffalo, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, Saugatuck, Douglas, Sawyer, and even Niles.

Thanks for your help. We did book a hotel in Goshen.

No nothing about the area. But, seems like it is 25-30 miles from ND stadium. We thought we would go up Friday afternoon and spend that night and then get up early and head into South Bend and park early so as not to be stuck in bumper to bumper traffic.

Does that sound logical? That way we can maybe walk about the campus since we have heard how awesome it is. Any suggestions as to what to do on Friday night or where to eat or drink?
