My wife and I stayed downtown for one nite at the Hyatt, as we were lucky with our Priceline bid. This hotel is terrific. Great location, modern and very friendly staff. We loved the downtown...wished we could stay longer. There was no construction in the lobby and the rooms were very clean and serviced. When we requested a late checkout, the front desk attendent had no problem helping us with that.
The canal and Ind State Museum were a short walk away and a must see. We did the St Elmo%26#39;s shrimp cocktail which is very good, but a bit pricey at 15/per. We also had happy hour drinks at O%26#39;Reillys and a very good sandwhich.
Overall, if you are lucky to get the Hyatt via priceline, count you blessings. Someone mentioned parking downtown being very pricey, but we found a garage for 12/day. Also, there are a few homeless people milling the downtown, but no big deal and not a problem. Felt very safe all times.
