Safe to leave car parked to take commuter train to Chicago?

Hi:

I%26#39;m going into Chicago for a weekend, and would rather not drive into the city. I%26#39;m coming up from SW Indiana. Where (if anywhere) would it be safe to park my car for a couple of days to do this?

what about taking a bus to Indy. I can tell you that parking on the street in downtown is free on the weekends. If you would be back Sunday night it shouldn%26#39;t be a prblem. The train would leave from downtown? But Friday until 5pm feed the meters every two hours. After that it is free until Monday morning. OR take a bus to Chicago from your area?

I meant to post this to the Indiana forum, and not the Indianapolis subforum.

I considered taking a train, either from Crawfordsville IN or Effingham, IL, but the train itineraries do not match my travel schedule.

I%26#39;m not sure, but the airport might be good for something lke this then taking a cab to downtown.

Parking is FREE on the streets in downtown Indy but I don%26#39;t think you can leave cars there all night or all weekend. Can you shed some light on this TUESDAY?

not sure but the meter reading only work monday thru friday till 6pm. Never tried leaving car overnight. airport parking sounds like a safe bet.

How is taking the train to Chicago from Indpls? I%26#39;ve never done that before but it sounds like it would beat driving.

Is it clean and safe? Anyone know roughly how much it is?
