Cottage/cabin rental?

I am looking to rent a cottage/cabin for a weekend this summer for 10 adults. I am running into all kinds of problems because most places will only rent by the week. We are all from Michigan but now live in Chicago and would like to go somewhere no more than 3 hours away. I was thinking St.Joe, Southaven, Michigan City in IN, or even somewhere in Wisconsin.

We need a beach within a very short walk.

Hot tub, central ac, firepit and pets allowed would also be great but we are willing to part with these amenities.

I have tried vrbo, great rental, ect. I guess I am looking for some personal advice.

Any ideas of places?

Try Saugatuck MI, they have their own website and links to rentals. Also Michigan City has some great rentals, also on the web and it%26#39;s only 11/2 from Chicago with a casino, small zoo and outlet mall. Just up there last week and saw signs for rentals, check out the area called Beachwalk or try a local realtor, again all on the web.

I own a beach house in the Miller Beach section of Gary. Almost all the houses are 2nd homes for Chicagoans and they only rent to friends. However I just typed in ';miller beach indiana rental'; and the first one that showed had 6 rentals. The bottom of the list is a house with 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, outdoor firepit, pet friendly and grill. Might not be glamorous but since we are only 50 minutes from the city, more time on the beach and less in traffic. Since you only want it for a weekend they might work out a deal or better yet, since it is probably a lot cheaper then a Michigan rental take it for a week and drive down after work and watch the sun set and chill. I live in the city but will commute from Miller Thurs and Friday so it feels like a 4 day weekend. The important thing is that all your friends are together, the beaches are great and it is an easy commute.

PS The South Shore train stops in Miller. Try the Miller Bakery Cafe for a great meal and live jazz and the Bakers House in the morning for scones, quiche and great coffee.

If you google Blue Fish Realty they have a lot of beautiful rentals in the Michigan City area.

This might be a good option for you. It%26#39;s a B%26amp;B with cottages in the back. Many of the cottages are tiny, but you can rent several since they%26#39;re right next to each other or even rent the whole property. It%26#39;s in Douglas right by Saugatuck which is about 15-20 minutes from South Haven. Nice location not far from Douglas beach and about a 5 minute drive to the famous Oval Beach.

Douglas beach would be really close if you could cut through other people%26#39;s property. As it is, you do have to walk more.
