When best to take grandkids to museum & zoo on budget

Was thinking of going the weekend of Aug 9 %26amp; 10. Will the hotels be booked for any special events? Any suggestions for 9 and 11 year old boys? One really likes baseball. Best place to stay on a budget and still be in the children%26#39;s museum and zoo area?

Not sure what%26#39;s going on downtown that weekend there is the possibility of a pre season Colts game. The zoo is in the downtown area but The Children%26#39;s Museum is at 30th and Meridian. As far as motel rooms on a budget you might consider staying out around the 465 belt. It%26#39;s an easy drive to downtown for the zoo and baseball game especially from the westside. There is a Wingate at Rockville road and 465 that is nice and has a small indoor pool, it%26#39;s a quicj 15 min drive to downtown. The museum is probably a 10 minute drive north out od downtown area

check out indyindians.com for the baseball schedule. Just got back from a game tonignt. OUCH 13 runs in two innings for Syracuse. We left early. But it is always fun to watch a game at Victory Field. The zoo is just west of downtown and the ballpark across the White River and on the right on Washington Street. The hotels on the south side of Indy or the Greenwood area would also be an easy drive and a good location. But the prime area is downtown just park the car and walk everywhere. The zoo could be a little far though. Parking is $5 at the zoo. They used to offer a AAA discount. Hope this helps.
