I will be in Indianapolis from April 15th-18th for business and staying at the Hyatt Regency (1 Capitol Ave).
This is my first time here, so I have a few questions that I hope you can help me with. I will be here alone and was wondering if it is safe to walk around downtown at night? If I am eating alone, are there any good restaurants nearby where I won%26#39;t feel uncomfortable eating alone (perhaps one with a bar and I can catch a game on TV)? Is there any thing to do at night...is the canal walk nearby? the museum?
Thanks in advance.

The downtown is very safe. There are plenty of restaurants. Shouldn%26#39;t be too crowded. If there is a Pacer gane it might be prety active. What food would you be looking for. Don%26#39;t worry about dinig alone...........no problem anywhere. If the weather is nice (it%26#39;s supposed to be mid 70%26#39;s by Wed) the canal walk is nice. try emailig me at ODaveOB@aol.com for further ideas Be sure to check out the USS Indianapolis Memorial about a half mile north on the walk. The State Museum is close also, about a half mile walk from Hyatt. The Hyatt is convenient to just about everything

Agree with the above, and would add the fact that there are some excellent restaurants in the immediate area:
Oceanaire, St. Elmo%26#39;s, Harry %26amp; Izzy%26#39;s, Palomino, The Slippery Noodle (bar food %26amp; usually decent blues bands), and MANY more. About 10 blocks away is the Massachusetts Avenue area, which has Agio%26#39;s (Italian), Elements (modern), Scholar%26#39;s Inn, Aesop%26#39;s Tables (very casual mediterranean), Yat%26#39;s (exceptional casual but very good cajun), and a number of good bars - including a great Bavarian style bar in the Rathskellar.
Have fun.
