Indy 500 seating dilemma

Turn 4 or Paddock? I%26#39;ve been going to the race for years, always sit in turn 4 - love the view, action, etc. This year I%26#39;m taking my 16 yr. old daughter for her first race and am considering getting Paddock seats so she can see all the pre-race stuff, the YoB, the pits in action, and so on. Only draw back is the view of the race itself, which I think matters more to me than to her. Any thoughts, especially from folks who%26#39;ve taken teenage girls to the race? Am I going to be miserable sitting on the front straight? Thanks for your help!

Indy 500 seating dilemma

Indychick, I like Turn 1 myself because I love the start when all 33 coming roaring to you. Also love Turn 2 and 4, all outside high of course. But then agin what isn%26#39;t to love about The 500? As for your 16 year old a would say the paddock would be great for all the activities right across from Victory Lane and The Pagoda. Do you drive in race day or come in earlier? Remember, the race starts at 1:00 p.m. this year (we go on daylight savings time this Sun morn). Sounds like your a seasoned veteran so you know all about getting tickets, parking, etc. Let me know if I can help with some activities that will keep a 16 year old entertained. Long live The 500.....STILL the greatest race in the world!!!!!!!!! have you gone to Chicagoland Speedway? I%26#39;ve been twice and loved it

Indy 500 seating dilemma

Tough call, Indychick. I%26#39;m partial to turn 1 myself, but have sat in the Paddock as well. Can%26#39;t say you%26#39;ll be miserable, but the views are difinitely limited. Unless you%26#39;re fortunate to sit in the front row of the Paddock Penthouse, your view of the race is restricted to just about what is in front of you. In recent years, they%26#39;ve added video screens in a handful of places to the face of the Tower Terrace suites. These are visible from the Paddock and help with views of the race.

Easy choice: Turn 4

Thanks for your input! We%26#39;re driving down Friday after school, staying downtown, and taking the bus to the race. Already have our tickets for the best parade I%26#39;ve ever seen. Will probably spend time at the mall, do a little hanging out in Broadripple, and do our usual routine of driving past the houses we used to live in (lived in Indy from %26#39;81 to %26#39;93). Any other suggestions are welcome. As for where to sit, I%26#39;m still torn!

Too bad you have to wait til schools out. The traditional CARB DAY is now on Friday with The Freedom 100 (100 mile Infiniti Pro Race), the final IRL practice, The Pit Stop Competition, and of course a concert after practice. PLEASE MOM PLEASE, can I just this once miss one day of school? If you get to town early enough on Friday stop by The Flag Room in The Brickyard Crossing. Under 21 can get in as long as they stay behind ';The Wall';( a small partition seprating a few small dining tables from the bar area) Last year me and my wife where there and 500 regulars Jim Nabors and Florence Henderson were in there glady signing autographs. She may be only 16 but I%26#39;m sure she know Carol Brady and Gomer

I took a drive around the track today (I have some connections) and stopped on the front stretch. If you sit in The Paddock be sure to sit toward the front. i suggest sitting in the turns. With the bis screens they have now you won%26#39;t miss any of the pageantry. I know lot%26#39;s of people have heard this before, but tell your daughter SHE WILL get a chill when they say ';Gentlemen start your engines'; (no disrespect to Danica)

Thanks a bunch. I%26#39;m seriously contemplating Paddock AA%26#39;s or BB%26#39;s at the S/F. Would do 1st -3rd row in the Padd Pent. but just a little too pricey. What do you think? No matter what, next year I%26#39;m back in the NWV.

And you%26#39;re right - once I get her there, she%26#39;ll be feeling it. Shoot, I still get teary eyed every time we cross the state line, and hearing J.N. sing ';Back home again...'; always makes me bawl. Can%26#39;t wait for the race!

Now I have the fever!!!. Media Day was Tuesday at the track and all the pace cars were there, the red/white/blue Corvettes! Lance Armstrong will be driving it in the race this year. On Wednesday it was an IRL open test. 17 cars took the track with Scott Dixon turning the top speed of 226 plus!! ONLY 51 MORE DAYS TIL RACE DAY!!!!!

last year a friend gave us tix to the brickyard 400 (i am not a nascar fan but always love a live event) in the lower grandstand just across from the first pit box in pit road. They were in section C and our seats were the highest in the lower stand (in other words, we could sit back against the fence, and we had the upper grandstand hanging over us, so on a hot day we were cool.

from here we could see them go into three, around to four, and all the way into one.

one of the new big screens was right across from us, but there are several so we did not miss any of the pageantry.

btw i have always hear high in turn three outside are great seats. we%26#39;re gonna try that for the 500 this year...

had a great day and did not miss a thing.

I finally picked our seats for the race: paddock AA, at the s/f. Should make my daughter happy. I can%26#39;t wait to put my ';welcome race fans'; flag up May 1 - neighbors think I%26#39;m nuts, but I still remember (back in the days before the IRL)when May was ';Race month'; in Indy and the town was crazy for 28 days. And when you talked about ';the race'; no matter what month of the year, nobody said: ';What race?'; Oh well, I%26#39;m still psyched!! Haven%26#39;t seen the pace car yet but think it%26#39;s great that Lance will be driving. Thanks for the update, Indyob. Back home again....
