My wife, son and self are coming down to Indy for the Mac Tools NHRA US Nationals at the end of August. I booked a 2 Queen Bed Suite at the Super 8 in Plainfield. Main reasons for booking there were proximity to track and the 2 queen beds. I have no previous knowledge of this hotel or area other than what I managed to find out on the web. Did I make a good choice? If not, why and suggestions please for a better place with 2 queens. Thanks
Super 8 in Plainfield for NHRA US Nationals....Good or Bad?I have not stayed there since I live here in Indy. But the property is new and in a nice suburban area. I think it is close to I-70? Good work on planning ahead for that big weekend. Plainfield is to the south of the Nationals so you are relatively close to the action. Have fun.
Super 8 in Plainfield for NHRA US Nationals....Good or Bad?The motel is new and the area is nice. The traffic will be heavy on Friday during evening rush hour (4:30 - 7:00) but other than that, good choice. There is almost anything you can think of to eat in that area within walking distance of your room. A great place for steak is The Coachman. There is also a winery right there. About two miles is a very nice shopping mall, Metropolis. Try the Claddaugh (an Irish restaurant) there. There is also an exercise trail about a mile west from your motel. Another fun place that has good food is The Mayberry Cafe in Danville. Go North to US 40 the west about 5 miles to the town square in Danville. It of course is themed after The Andy Griffith Show and they even have a replica squad car parked on the street. If you have enough courage purchase a Goober hat in the gift store there. Where is Pinawa? We%26#39;re expecting three Torontoans here for The 500.
Thanks for the great replies. Looks like we will be happy with our choice of hotel and area. FYI, Pinawa is 70 miles NE of Winnipeg, Manitoba or about 1100 miles NW of Indy. Try Googling it.
A thought also.........Plainfield is ONLY about a 20-25 minute drive to downtown Indianapolis if you%26#39;de like to check it out. It%26#39;s all interstate (I70) and is a very easy drive. Downtown is easily walkable, clean, and pretty active. There is a big fireworks show on either Sat or Sun that weekend so stay away on that night. It will be jammed
