2008 indy 500 Stand B question

Well, we just got our tickets for this year%26#39;s race and despite my request for seats as high up as possible, we were placed in Stand B, section 9, row H. From what I gather this is going to put us in chairs on the ground level. Is this correct or will we be elevated somewhat? Are we going to be able to see anything other than the backs of someone%26#39;s head?

I%26#39;m a little disappointed but hoping the thrill of simply being there will make up for the poor seating

2008 indy 500 Stand B question

That%26#39;s pretty low. The B Stands do give you a view most of the sweep of Turn One, and some of the pits (the south end of the pits, where most of the top teams choose to pit). The higher the better in these stands - and the first rows that are high enough to give you the desirable view down the main straight are at about the T level and higher (double letter rows are best, IMO).

The great thing is you%26#39;ll be in a terrific spot to watch the greatest moment in sports: the start of the Indy 500. In fact, you%26#39;ll be able to see the mass of cars begin to accelerate down the front straight to take the checkered flag, and you%26#39;ll also likely be low enough to have a twinge of concern that the catch fence is strong enough to stop cars/debris in the event things go wrong. There is simply NOTHING like these cars roaring three wide down that very narrow straightaway, accelerating from about 130 mph to over 200 mph at about the point where you%26#39;ll be sitting.

You will have the head of the person in front of you to contend with - but once you get over that, you should have a decent view of much of the race.

If you have the opportunity to get seats a bit higher (the double letter rows), do so!

Regardless, you%26#39;ll have fun (and you%26#39;ll get a sunburn in those seats - assuming the spring sun is raging on that day).

2008 indy 500 Stand B question

Dave is completely right (IMO). If you can try to make ';Carb Day'; Friday the 23rd and go to The 500 Festival Parade that Sat. ';Carb Day'; you get to see the final practice for The IRL cars, The Freedom 100 (Infinity Pro Cars or Indy Lights, whatever their called now), The Pit Stop Competition, and a concert (Stone Temple Pilots)all for only $20.00. I went to the parade with my wife last year. Really wasn%26#39;t to thrilled about going to a parade, but had a blast. ONLY 36 days til the track opens, and 57 days til The Greatest Spectacle in Racing!! If we can only get by April here in chilly Indy. Lucklily the real race season starts tonight in Homestead!!

Unfortunately we will not make it to Indy until Friday evening. We did purchase a package though that will get us to the track early Sat am for the driver%26#39;s meeting with garage passes and then an escort to the parade with seats in a private stand. Hopefully the kids will enjoy the parade

I%26#39;m looking forward to the experience in general and now hope the good weather Gods are on our side for the week-end

We all look to the weather gods during the Month of May. I certainly hope you have a GREAT experience.

I was just in San Diego and LA this past week - absolutely gorgeous, ... but what%26#39;s new, eh?
