I am taking an 8 hr exam that starts at 7:15am on a Friday morning. The exam is at the Ramada Indianapolis on E42nd street. I%26#39;ve stayed there before and it was one of the worst places I%26#39;ve ever been to in my life. I need help finding a decent hotel where I can get a good nights rest before the test. I will need to drive to the Ramada early Friday morning. I was thinking of staying around the Shadeland Ave and 21st intersention because there seems to be a lot of hotels near there. What is the traffic like on Friday morning on these roads? It looks like I could just drive up Shadeland to Pendleton pike to 42nd. Is this advisable? Thanks for your help in advance.
attn locals - Help on where to stay and Friday a.m. traffic.
There are about 3 new motels at 21st and Shadeland. I think one is a Best Western. At that time in the morn rush hour traffic should be fairly light. You can take that route or you can get on the interste there at Shadeland. Take I-70 East to I 465 North to Pendelton Pike. Shouldn%26#39;t be more than 5 minutes. Around tht area there isn%26#39;t much except fast foods. You can take Shadeland north to about 71st Street and find T.D. Alibi%26#39;s which is nice.

There%26#39;s also a very nice Sheraton on Shadeland Ave. just about 1/2 mile north of T.D. Alibi%26#39;s (and a bazillion decent hotels within about a 5 mile radius of I-69 %26amp; 82nd Street - the northeast side would be a much better place to stay IMO than the 21st %26amp; Shadeland area - and a similar drive time due to fewer stop lights). At least I think it%26#39;s a Sheraton - it%26#39;s been owned by several hotel chains over the past decade (Hilton, Omni, and Sheraton). It%26#39;s a very nice hotel in a quiet section of an otherwise bustling corner of town.
East 42nd street is not a great area. 21st and shadeland is really not a good area. Go farther north, to 82 street if you can. Traffic really isn%26#39;t too bad in Indpls especially if you stay off of I69 and 465 corner.
I%26#39;m in agreement with the others on this one. 42nd Street is not a good area. I used to work near 21st and Shadeland and I wouldn%26#39;t recommend staying there either...it%26#39;s just not a good area after dark. Go with the advice on here and get closer to 82nd Street
