Where to stay in Terre Haute

Hi,

I%26#39;d like some advice as to where to stay in Terre Haute. This is a one night pass through on our way to Michigan. We would like something close to I-70, with breakfast, comfortable beds and good value. 2 adults and two kids. Any hotel suggestions?

Thanks!

Where to stay in Terre Haute

We stayed at the Hampton Inn in March, and I would recommend it. It is right off I-70 and has a free breakfast. We weren%26#39;t really in the hotel that long since we checked in after 11 pm and were gone by 9 am, but it was nice to sleep in a clean, comfortable room. The breakfast was decent, the same as every other Hampton. We paid a total of $94, including tax. We stayed at the Terre Haute Ramada Inn 3 years ago, and the Hampton was much nicer. Have a good trip!

Where to stay in Terre Haute

We stayed in the Econolodge in TH; never again. We walked in to the small lobby area, staff was eating in there (2 pm in afternoon), using the counter for food. One of the staff was sprawled out in a chair, looked pretty put-out when I had to step over him to get to the desk. This place needs a good managerial shake-up. The price was too high for the room. After one night, we left and went from the frying pan into the fire... the Ramada Express. There, the desk staff was not dressed for success, overheard (tiny area) a guest saying that their room was dirty and light bulbs were missing. Staffer told guest the person with access to light bulbs was not on duty. Two other couples looking for lodging, after hearing the complaints at the desk left to look for other places to stay. Another said they could not get the free internet access to work. I also could receive only a weak internet signal, not useable. Told the clerk, she said she didn%26#39;t know anything about it. Internet guy not on duty. Next day, internet still unuseable. Had to go to office on the second day as the maid had not left fresh towels. I pity anyone having to use the pitiful lodging in Terre Haute. High prices, surly staff, NO MANAGEMENT, and a ';If you don%26#39;t like it here, try someplace else'; attitude. Why doesn%26#39;t the Chamber of Commerce jack these motels up to at least a mediocre level of service. We have stayed/suffered in TH for the last 7 years while on vacation; NEVER AGAIN. We will drive 60 miles to Effingham, Illinois to a very nice Holiday Inn Express. (I DO NOT work for Holiday Inn Express, am retired from aerospace). I will gladly stay in Terre Haute if they shape up. Any others with lodging problems in TH?

I know this topic is old, but to respond to the last person that replied. Just because 1 hotel was bad, doesn%26#39;t mean ALL the hotels are bad in Terre Haute.
