Log Cabin Hideaway

Rustic older log cabin in a secluded, quiet setting. No noise except that of the woodland creatures. We had a rooster visit the property each morning and several deer in the woods and corn fields. Roomy house sleeps 9 in 3 bedrooms (2 iare n the loft), 2 bathrooms, living room, dining, full kitchen. Plus full basement with ping pong table. House seems to cater to large groups, youth, women%26#39;s, scouts, etc. Big front porch with 2 person rocker, side porch with picnic table. Not the cleanest or most up to date place we have ever stayed in though. Beds and bedding were old, pillows in terrible shape, bring your own. Shower curtain was dirty. Refrigerator had previous guests leftovers in it. Most windows did not have privacy curtains, felt a little too exposed to me. But if rustic is your thing then this is the place for you!

Log Cabin Hideaway

Stayed here a week with husband, 80 yr old mother, and cousin. A real log cabin, very beautiful inside with 2 large deer heads on the wall and a bearskin. 2 sofas, I comfy chair, a large dining table with inserts that can seat an army, a breakfast table, full kitchen, washer/dryer. Kitchen is fully supplied. 1 bedroom on ground floor with 1 double bed and a bunkbed, bathroom. upstairs had 2 lofts (no separate rooms), 1 with a double bed, the other with a double bed and a single. Another bathroom is upstairs. Neither bathroom has a bathtub. Basement has ping pong table and has a walkout leading to a yard with a firepit and wood for burning. Path in the woods leads to a private pond with resident ducks for feeding or for fishing. Picnic table also at pond.

Our stay was great and the place is central to enjoying Indiana Amish country. 5-10 minutes to either Middlebury or Goshen. Cabin is surrounded by Amish homes and is very secluded by a small forest, but owners live in a home visible through the trees.

Only limitations was broadcast TV with only 4 channels (no cable), no VCR, no internet, and those sleeping upstairs have no walls to limit noise from others. I agree that the linen and towels were worn but they are clean. The same goes for the sofa and the beds. The kitchen area does have food and things left from other visitors but this is meant for your use (salt, sugar, saran wrap, soup cans, coffee filters, peanut butter). The fridge does have used condiments, so these are available for use but they are already opened. Freezer had leftover ice cream ( which my husband ate) and some frozen hamburger patties( which we would have eaten if we didn%26#39;t go out so much). Some people this think this is gross, but others are not turned off and we chipped in with some dishwashing liquid and an unopened bottle of milk.
